At our latest town hall meeting, there were many community members that expressed interest in seeing what the inside of the new building would look like in terms of layouts. We have heard those requests and wrote off to our architects and just received a nice clean copy of what the inside of the building plans represent. Please take a few minutes and take a look at the plans below for your enjoyment.
Remember if you want to take a look at more pictures during the construction of the building from the inside, please visit the EPS 73.net website and check out the construction gallery. Be sure to check in on the progress of our construction project with many photos of the process at the main photos site at www.eps73.net.
Starting on Monday, March 19th, construction fencing will be placed around the East Prairie School property. This is to keep the construction area contained and safe as we begin our construction project.
IMPORTANT: The construction fencing will extend all the way to the edge of the street, encompassing the sidewalks. This means there will be NO sidewalk access on Crawford, part of Howard and part of Dobson, in the areas where the construction is taking place. This area is marked in Red. If you are walking or biking to school, you will need to use sidewalks that are on the opposite side of the streets near the school building. These are marked in Yellow. Please be sure to follow the instructions of the crossing guards. Please use extra caution when arriving and leaving school! Because of the fencing and arrival of construction equipment, the lot will not be open for parking. When attending Parent teacher conferences, please arrive a bit sooner as the only parking will be along the streets, or at Hamlin Park. As East Prairie moves forward with our construction project, we want to keep you informed about changes in the neighborhood.
During the next few weeks we will be moving equipment and supplies into our staging areas. These areas are located where the old homes were demolished. DO NOT PARK in these two staging areas located on the map. Thank You. Over the last couple of weeks, the current landscape at EPS has been changing. We have removed both the old learning center and small gym to make way for the new building project.
The Interior demo of the learning Center began in December. This demolition included the removal of all the interior walls, ceilings, heating systems, plumbing systems, carpet and wall coverings before the shell of the building could be torn down. Interior demolition of the small gym began during winter break with crews quickly removing the majority of all of the inside coverings and accessories within a single day. Over the next two weeks, in spite of the cold weather, the demolition company was able to complete the demolition of the two major portions of the building, and the two adjacent properties. This past week work continued on the adjacent properties as they have now been leveled and prepped as construction sites staging areas. This was a major milestone as now the district begins to concentrate its efforts on groundbreaking in March and prepping the land for the new foundations of the new school building. Next week, on December 4th, you will notice some fencing being erected around two sections of East Prairie School and the adjacent properties. All areas will be well marked and isolated with construction fencing, preventing entry to the site. The fencing will follow the RED lines on the map shown. The gates will still be accessible for the upcoming concerts later in December.
As East Prairie moves forward with the community construction project, we want to keep you informed about changes within the neighborhood. |
